Vase of black hyalite glass, Hyalite glass, that ruled the Biedermeier era, was developed in 1816 in glass foundry Jirikovo udoli, under leadership of Jiri Frantisek August Buquoy - mathematician, chemist, philosopher and house-holder. There was glass works in Stribrne Hute, that also produced and treated hyalite glass. Glass works in Cerne Udoli on Cerna river started after 1884 producing hyalite stone glass (glass of special hardness, shine and opacity, that seemed more like diamond than glass). Its decorativeness was improved by gold coating and cutting. Besides the original black hyalite, the glass works produced red hyalite and marbled hyalite. These products were exported under trademark Schwarzthaler Glass to Austria, Hungary, Germany, Switzerland, Russia, Americas and India. The glass products were honored among others at expos in Paris 1855, Ceske Budejovice 1884, Prague 1891, Chicago 1893. HISTORY OF GLASS PRODUCTION >>> visit also our Myslivna under Kohout <<<
